David Tavarez was born on April 7, 1961, in Fort Stockton, Texas. He was called Home by our Lord on September 13, 2022.
David was raised in Fort Stockton, Texas, and graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1980. He was a member of the St. Joseph / St. Agnes Catholic Community. Being an avid golfer, David was also a member of the Fort Stockton Golf Association. David lived in Fort Stockton until the last eight years of his life when he moved to Odessa, Texas where he concluded his employment of 40 years in the oil and gas industry.
David is predeceased by his parents, Pedro Tavarez Sr., and Rita Gomez Tavarez, and by his brother, Pedro Tavarez Jr., and three nephews.
Survivors include his daughter, Nikki Davlin, his son, Daven Tavarez, his sisters Maria (Refugio) Rangel, Frances (Ricardo) Lopez, Marcela (Rick) Ramirez, his sister-in-law, Benita Tavarez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
David loved the game of golf, Tejano music, cooking/grilling with family and friends, and helping other people in their time of need. He had a mischievous smile, a huge heart full of generosity, and a special love for kids. Anytime he saw a child at a store, he would buy them a piece of candy or give them money. One of his greatest joys was preparing food to share with family and neighbors, which was always enjoyed as he was a very good cook.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home, Fort Stockton, Texas, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, followed by a rosary.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 19, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas, followed by interment at the Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
