Amanda M. Garrison, a radiant soul born on October 25, 1981, in Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Odessa, Texas. Amanda's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those she cherished most, particularly her beloved family and the children she worked with.
Her visitation will take place at the Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 N. Main Street in Fort Stockton on February 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church 401 S. Main Street on March 1, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, leading to her burial at East Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
A proud graduate of Fort Stockton High School in 2000, Amanda dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as a valued member of the Fort Stockton Independent School District. Her passion for education shone through in her everyday interactions, where her big, beautiful signature smile and infectious energy were as constant as the sun. Amanda adored working with children, always ready with an encouraging word or a lighthearted joke to brighten their days. In July of 2007, Amanda married her loving husband, Joel Bernal, weaving another strand of joy into her already vibrant life. Together, they celebrated the joys of parenthood, cherishing their two beautiful daughters, Alyssa Mia Bernal and Aubrina Mia Bernal, who were the pride and joy of Amanda's heart. She was immensely involved in her children's lives, attending school events and extracurricular activities with enthusiasm that inspired those around her. Amanda's spirit was kind and her heart, expansive. She cultivated deep ties with her family, including her parents, Phillip and Sylvia Garrison, and her siblings, whom she adored. Her sister Cassandra Garrison was not just a sibling but her best friend, sharing countless memories and secrets. Amanda also found love and camaraderie with her brothers, Phillip Garrison Jr. and Michael Garrison, and her niece and nephew, Alessandra Garrison and Colby Garrison, all of whom will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Though Amanda's time with us was far too short, she left behind an indelible impact on everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her cherished grandparents, Luciana Baeza Garcia and Florentino Acosta Garcia Sr., who will now welcome her into their loving embrace.
While the world feels a little dimmer without Amanda, her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will forever illuminate the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her. She may have departed our earthly realm, but her spirit will live on through her family, friends, and the countless children whose lives she touched.
