Amelia Sanchez passed away on November 13, 2020, at the age of 89 years old.
She was born November 17, 1930 in Sanderson, Tx.
Amelia & Raul lived in Sanderson, Tx till right after the 1965 flood, they moved their family to Austin, Tx. Amelia worked for Texas School for the Deaf for many years and then work for Brackenridge Hospital for years. In 1977 Amelia and her husband, Ray and Mike moved back to Sanderson to open and operated the Box Car Café which later was Mi Tierra Café. Amelia will always be remembered for her love of football; Amelia was a die-hard Longhorn fan and Sanderson Eagle fan, but her greatest love was her family.
Amelia was her sons’ number 1 cheerleader.
She is survived by her six sons; George R and wife Rosalinda of El Paso, Juan C of Waco, Jose R and wife Lupe of Sanderson, Richard and wife Irene of Austin, Mike and wife Karen of Sanderson, Ray and wife Yolanda of Sanderson, Seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren, sisters; Octivia Rodriguez of Sanderson, Rita Gonzalez of Fort Stockton; brothers Arturo Fuentes of Sanderson, Alberto Fuentes of Fort Stockton and Enrique Fuentes of Fort Stockton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Alberto and Octivia Fuentes; husband, Raul O. Sanchez brothers, Jose Fuentes, Carmen Fuentes, Francisco Fuentes.
Rosary will be on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 10:30 am at Saint James Catholic Church in Sanderson, Texas.
Services will be Friday at 11am at Saint James Catholic Church in Sanderson, Texas. Burial to follow at Santa Rita Cemetery.
