Carroll Nix

August 23, 1928 — February 15, 2019

Carroll Walter Nix, Sr. at the age of 90 �½ yrs. of Montgomery, Texas, beloved father, grandpa, and great grandpa went to be with the Lord with praise u0026 song on his lips, Friday, February 15, 2019.

CW was born August 23, 1928 in Akron, Ohio He was married to Nancy Carroll Nix for 61 �½ years, they lived in Ohio for 8 years, Fort Stockton for 50 years where they were members of First Baptist Church. Then he lived 12 years with their youngest son, Michael Wade Nix in Tomball, u0026 Shepherd, Texas where they were members of Dolen Baptist Church, and the last 3 �½ months with daughter, Cheryl Dickinson in Montgomery, Texas. Music was a big part of his life, he was always a choir member of every church he attended, and sang in the same men's quartet for 50 years. He was a deacon of every church he was a member of, and a member of the masonic lodge.

He worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio beginning June 4, 1951, transferred to Fort Stockton, Texas, and retired July 1, 1984 as Senior Tire Engineer and Forman of the Test Drivers. Then from 1985-1995, he drove a Fort Stockton ISD school bus (greyhound) for out of town extracurricular activities, (sports, band, choir, etc.) He enjoyed working on coin collection, fishing, music and family.

CW is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Dickinson and husband Greg of Montgomery, Linda Englert and husband Jerry of Snyder, Audra Lawson and husband Johnny, of Pearland; his sons, Wayne Nix and wife JoAnn of Fort Stockton, Michael Nix and wife Rebecca of Shepherd; his 16 grandchildren, and 45 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, February 22, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Heritage Funeral Home Fort Stockton, Texas.

CW was preceded in death by wife, Nancy Carroll Nix, son, Carroll Walter Nix, Jr., and infant son, Daniel Jay Nix.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at Heritage Funeral Home, on Saturday, February 23, 2019 with son, Michael Wade Nix, officiating the service. Interment will follow at the East Hill Cemetery.
