Cathy Ann Williams passed away on September 16, 2015. She was born August 25, 1951, in San Angelo, Texas, to Byron and Liz Williams. She grew up in Ozona, surrounded by a large extended family, including one sister, nine cousins, ten uncles and aunts, and three grandparents.
Cathy graduated from Ozona High School in 1970. She attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor degree in Spanish and English. During one summer semester, Cathy traveled with a school group to San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where she lived with a family and was immersed in the language and culture. She also attended one summer semester in McAllen, Texas, studying Spanish.
After college graduation, Cathy taught English and Spanish in Rankin, Texas, for two years. In 1976, she moved to Midland, where she worked in the oil industry for many years, both as a draftsman and as a scheduler.
After thirty years, she sold her home in Midland and lived in Alamogordo and then Farmington, both in New Mexico. Being a native Texan at heart, she moved back to Alpine, where she has lived for the last year and a half.
Cathy loved the land and spent many happy summers on the Devil's River with the family. She enjoyed horseback riding, skiing, and many other outdoor activities. She was a voracious reader and a student of Texas history. Cathy loved music and played the guitar, often with her mother and grandmother.
Cathy is survived by one sister, Connie Burrus of Corpus Christi, nine cousins, and several second cousins. A graveside service will be September 18, 2015 at 11am at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona.
