CLAUDETTE KERR, AGE 80, OF FORT STOCKTON PASSED AWAY DECEMBER 11, 2021. SHE WAS BORN OCTOBER 17, 1941, IN ROSICLARE, ILLINOIS TO VELTON AND PEARL KERR. SHE ATTENDED FORT STOCKTON SCHOOLS AND LIVED IN FORT STOCKTON MOST OF HER LIFE. SHE WAS A LEGENDARY NIGHT CLUB OWNER IN FORT STOCKTON. SHE OWNED AND MANAGED 8 NIGHT CLUBS THROUGHOUT HER LIFE BEGINNING WITH THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE IN GRANTS NEW MEXICO BEFORE MOVING BACK TO FORT STOCKTON AND OPERATING THE RAMADA INN LOUNGE. SHE MANAGED CLUBS AT THE SUNDAY HOUSE, TEXAN INN, AND SANDS. SHE OWNED AND MANAGED CAT BALLOU NIGHTCLUB AND THE ATRIUM NIGHTCLUB ALL BEFORE OPENING CLAUDETTE’S SPORTS BAR FOR HER GOLFERS! SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE EAGLES AND SERVED AS PAST MADAM PRESIDENT FOR THE ORGANIZATION. AFTER HER NIGHTCLUBS CLOSED, SHE WORKED AT SOUTHWEST VET CLINIC WITH DR. MILLER, BUT ALWAYS HAD DREAMS OF REOPENING A NIGHTCLUB. SHE WAS AN ADVID GOLFER AND TRAVELED TO DIFFERENT TOURNAMENTS WITH THE LADIES GOLF GROUP. SHE LOVED WATCHING THE DALLAS COWBOYS ON TV AND LISTENING TO THE FORT STOCKTON PANTHERS FOOTBALL GAMES ON KFST.
CLAUDETTE IS SURVIVED BY HER TWO CHILDREN, DAUGHTER VICKI MITCHELL AND HUSBAND SNYDER OF FT. STOCKTON AND SON TONY BROOKE AND FIANCE STACY HALL OF FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO. TWO GRANDSONS RANKIN MITCHELL AND WIFE AMANDA AND COLE MITCHELL OF FORT STOCKTON, ONE GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER, CLARA MITCHELL AND ONE NIECE.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON JANUARY 22, 2022, AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 201 NORTH OKLAHOMA AT 11AM WITH REVEREND DR. JIM MILES OFFICIATING. THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK CAREGIVER ELPIDIA OLVERA AND NURSE BEVERLY DUTCHOVER FOR THE CARE AND COMPASSION YOU EACH GAVE TO CLAUDETTE. MEMORIALS CAN BE GIFTED TO THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OR CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE.
