H. Clay “Sonny” Warnock, age 95, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on August 23, 2024.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 North Main Street in Fort Stockton, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at East Hill Cemetery.
Sonny was born on January 20, 1929, to Samuel Clay Warnock and Eva Rachel Hannum Warnock in Ft. Stockton, Texas. He attended Fort Stockton schools from first grade through his graduation from high school in 1947. Sonny married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann Reeves, on August 24, 1949, in Sanderson, Texas. Sonny attended Texas A&M University for one year before becoming a herdsman for registered Herefords. Sonny and Elizabeth started the Warnock Dairy in 1969 and operated it for over 30 years. Seth became an important part of the partnership, and he helped the dairy transition from selling only raw milk to pasteurization. Sonny and Elizabeth operated a ten-section ranch near Big Lake for almost 50 years. They raised beef cattle, sheep, and goats. Seth was an active partner in the ranching business over the years. Sonny was very active in the Pecos County 4-H Club raising and showing steers and lambs throughout his early years.) He continued being active through the years Gwen, Ann and Seth were involved in 4-H. The family participated in state fairs throughout Texas, and venturing to Minnesota, Arizona and Oklahoma for shows at one time. Sonny was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; his parents; his sisters, Sammie Lee Warnock Pfiester and Eva Jane Warnock Puckett. Sonny is survived by their three children. Gwen Warnock Grigsby (Tony) of Round Rock; Ann Warnock Moseley (Randy) of Mertzon; and Seth Clay Warnock (Bonnie) on a ranch north of Marathon. They had four grandchildren, Megan Nicole Grigsby of Austin and Kelly Jeanne Grigsby Kaiser (Colt) of Round Rock; Sarah Lea Moseley Massey (Jason) of Blum; and Lynn Ann Moseley Parker (Bill) of Crowley; and seven great grandchildren, Abbigail Nichole Massey of Ft. Worth; Allison Ann Massey Bogan (Kenton) of Ennis; William Clay Massey and Jacob Henry Massey of Blum; Brodie Levi Parker of Crowley and Brendan Lee Kaiser and Mary Jeanne Kaiser of Round Rock.
