Cleta Wynona Lee passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Fort Stockton. She was born on June 8, 1929 in Muskogee county Oklahoma near the little town of Wainwright to her parents John and Alice Ramsey. She had two older brothers and two older sisters. When Cleta was 17 months old, her father died with cancer. Her mother and the five children remained on the family farm and lived as well or better than their neighbors during the depression. Cleta graduated high school at Wainwright. After graduation she went to Pampa, Texas to live with an aunt and work. She had a cousin her age at Wheeler and he had a best friend named Eldon Lee. Cleta and Eldon married on December 25, 1947. They lived in Wheeler about 6 years. Eldon transferred to Denver City. From there they moved to Oklahoma for a couple of years, then Eldon got a good job in Fort Stockton in 1958. Cleta worked at Alamo as secretary for 5 years, then went to work for Firestone Test Center for 20 years. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the information desk most Monday mornings.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Ramsey; father, John Ramsey; husband of 48 years, Eldon Lee; four brothers, John (Jiggs) Ramsey, Dean Ramsey, Joe Phillips, RB Ramsey; two sisters, Regina Smith, Cristle Crabtree.
Survivors include her two sons, Steven Lee, Stanley Lee; daughter, Rejeana Jo Stafford; six grandchildren; Deana Stafford, Deborah Tew, Doug Stafford, Dusty Henderson, Jamie Periz, Wesley Lee; four great grandchildren, Patrick Henderson, Aaron Henderson, Dalton Stafford, Liliana Perez.
A visitation will take place Monday, January 19, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home from 6-8PM. A funeral service will take place at the Church of Christ in Fort Stockton January 20, 2015 at 1PM with Elder Darryl Scott officiating.
