Dewey Edwin Campbell of Fort Stockton passed away Thursday January 19th, 2017, in Midland, at the age of 90 years. Dewey was born on September 25, 1926, to John William Campbell and Emma Marie Biggs Campbell in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Dewey served as a Navy WWII Veteran on the Battleship Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Science/Chemistry from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Dewey was committed to serving his community. He was Past State President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in 1986. He was also Past Area President and Secretary for 20 years of Area 3220 FOE, Fort Stockton, Texas. He dedicated his time to the 4-H Club and the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He received an adult leadership award from Texas 4-H. Dewey was a longstanding member of the United Methodist Church. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge, and a 50 year member of Eastern Star.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrtle Mae Everett Campbell; his sons, John Campbell and wife Denise Campbell of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Walter Campbell and wife Carrie Campbell of College Station, Texas; his sisters, Wanda Williams, Gayle Yarholer, Norma Donaghey; his grandchildren, Joshua Campbell and wife Landi Campbell, Lindsy Campbell, Benjamin Campbell and wife Aspen Campbell, Kyle Campbell, Kayce Campbell; and his great granddaughter, Laynee Campbell.
Dewey is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 20th, 2017, from 5-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 21st, 2017, beginning at 10:30am at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. Brother Neely Landrum will be officiating. Burial will follow at 3pm at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ozona, Texas. In lieu of flowers you may send donation to High Sky Children's Ranch 8613 W.
