Dorothy Armstrong, age 78, of Fort Stockton passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was born on January 3, 1936 to James and Syble Key in Lubbock. She married Roy Armstrong in 1955 moving around much of their early marriage. The first 14 years of her marriage they moved to 27 towns in 5 states. In 1969 she found her home and moved to Fort Stockton, she became very active in the community. She was a leader in both the cub scouts and boy scouts of America. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi international and was names girl of the year. She organize the Republican Party in Fort Stockton and was the chairperson for 2 years. She also organized the local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation of Fort Stockton in the mid 1970s. She worked in the insurance department of the hospital in the 1980s and started her own business Pat Walker Figure Salon until her health prevented her from such service in the community.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Roy Armstrong brother, Dr. James D. Key of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Syble Key.
A memorialvisitation will take place at Heritage Funeral Home from 5:00 pm. 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend of Fort Stockton. In lieu of flowers the family request that you send a donation to Pecos County Hospice, or West Texas Boys Ranch.
