Elena Pearl Tillotson of Fort Stockton passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, in Odessa, Texas at the age of 86 years. She was born on July 7, 1932 in Mississippi to Pierce and Gussie Arnold.
Elena was raised in Franklin County, Mississippi. She married her high school sweetheart Jerry Jim Tillotson on November 27, 1948, in Franklin County, Mississippi. She raised her family in West Texas and New Mexico. She settled down in Fort Stockton in 1966 until she moved to Odessa in 1977. She worked at Dillard's in the Men's Department until she retired in 2006. Elena spent five years after retiring in Raymond Mississippi, and then returned to Fort Stockton in 2011.
Elena was involved in her children's, Jimmy, Rickie, Malcolm, and Vivian's sports, the girl scouts, and the boy scouts. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, read, go out to eat, and attend church pot luck dinners. She gifted many baby afghans. She loved following her grand and great grandchildren's' activities, especially their sporting events. Elena was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Elena is survived by her son, Jimmy Leroy Tillotson of Odessa; her daughter, Vivian T. Hickman and husband Terry of Fort Stockton; her daughter-in-law, Kathie Tillotson of Andrews, and daughter-in-law "Sherri" Tillotson of Fort Worth; her brother, Homer Arnold of McComb, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Jeremy W. Hickman and wife Desi Hickman of Kerrville, Jeffry C. Hickman of Sanderson, JJ Hickman and wife Brooke Hickman of Midland, Nicholas Tillotson of Fort Worth, Katherine Webb of Fort Worth; her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Hickman of Kerrville, Alyssa Hickman of Kerrville, Audrey Webb, Haily Webb, and Roland Webb of Fort Worth, Malcolm Tillotson of Fort Worth, Harrison Sims of Hobbs, New Mexico, Hunter Sims of Hobbs, New Mexico, Colt Hickman of Midland; and her numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Elena is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Jim Tillotson; her sons, Rickie Lynn Tillotson, Malcom Arnold Tillotson; her brothers, A. J. Arnold, Lenox Arnold; her sisters, Violet Lofton, Lorraine Spring; and her grandchild, Kimberly Sims.
Memorial service will be Monday November 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church at 10 am in Fort Stockton, Texas. A special thanks to the staff of Madison Medical Resort.
