Eutimio (Timio) Luis Rodriguez
August 19, 1925 - December 9, 2020
Our beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Welo passed away peacefully on December 9, 2020 at the age of 95 years old.
He was born in Ozona, Texas to Martin and Lydia Rodriguez on August 19, 1925. Grew up in Sheffield, Texas and then moved to Sanderson, Texas in 1944 where he met and later married the love of his life, Octavia Fuentes on April 15,1951.
He was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1949 as a Section Gang laborer and worked his way through the ranks as an Apprentice Foreman, Assistant Foreman, Foreman, Track Supervisor, and finally Assistant Roadmaster, a position he held upon retirement in 1986. Not ready for retirement he continued working for the railroad as a contractor for several more years.
Staying busy was his motto; always finding something to do. He was an all-sports fanatic; true Dallas Cowboy fan. Picked up golfing for a short time and enjoyed going out to the course with ‘the boys’ to hit some balls. Devoted his time to the upkeeping of his church, St. James Catholic Church, for many years until his health started to decline.
Survived by his wife of 69 years, Octavia Rodriguez, children: Rolando Rodriguez (Mary Alice) of Sanderson, TX; Mary Munoz (Bob) of Bakersfield, CA; Yolanda Garza (Apolinar) of Eagle Pass, TX; Rita Rodriguez of Sanderson, TX; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Lydia Rodriguez; sister, Teresa Ybarra of Sheffield, Texas; son, Alex Romo of Andrews, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was our rock, our inspiration, a role model, and a hard worker all his life. He lived for his family wholeheartedly and loved them ‘to the moon and back’. There are no words to express the special love in his heart that he had for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will miss him dearly and will forever hold him close to our hearts.
Our sincere appreciation to all the healthcare workers that tended to his needs with so much care and respect. A special thanks to Ronnie Fuentes who took care of him with a lot of compassion and understanding of his illness.
