George "Chapo" Loyd Wells Jr. passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Fort Stockton, surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 62 years. George was born on July 31, 1952, in Iraan, Texas to George and Mary Wells. He worked for the sheriff's department and was a part of the Narcotics task force for a total of 22 years. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he was a lifelong rancher. He was a devout Christian and loved by all.
George is survived by his wife Darlene Wells; his sons Gregory and Billie Wells of Fort Stockton, Texas, Charlie and Tiana Wells of Fort Stockton, Texas; his sisters Shirley Fox of Willis, Texas, Rosie Campbell of New Braunfels, Texas, Tinnie Meyer of Burton, Texas; his 8 grandchildren James and Taylor Wells, Jodi and Russell Garvin, Kaylee Cope, Kamy Wells, Carrie Wells, John "Milo" Wells; and 3 great grandchildren Colton Garvin, Landon Garvin, Joseph Garvin.
George was preceded in death by his father George Wells Sr., his mother Mary Wells and grandson, Cody Henderson and K9 Maggie.
Visitation will be on Sunday the 24th from 5 to 7 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday the 25th at 1 pm at North Side Baptist Church. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas.
The pallbearers are Bill Evertt, Clif Harris, TJ Perkins, GW Meyer, Tulon Murphy, Jorge Guiterrez. The honorary pallbearers will be James Wells, Ray Gene Meyer, John "Milo" Wells.
