George Fernandez Ybarra

George Fernandez Ybarra, 61, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully at his childhood home in Fort Stockton, Texas on October 18, 2023.

Family visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend at 301 N. Main St., Fort Stockton, Texas.  Public visitation is from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Graveside Service and burial is at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas.

George was born in Fort Stockton, Texas to Trinidad and Rosa Ybarra on May 31, 1962.  He attended Fort Stockton High School where he enjoyed music and choir and was part of the P. C. Rhythm Singers.  He was enrolled in the Paramedic Program and later worked as a CDL truck driver for various companies in the Permian Basin and West Texas region and for TxDot for a short time in the Austin area.  George married Irma Hernandez on August 25, 2023.

Mr. Ybarra is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife; Irma, daughter; Rebecca Subia and husband; Tony, son, Nathan Ybarra, daughter, Abigail Ybarra, all of Fort Stockton, sisters, Norma Ybarra Lackey of Fort Stockton, Veronica Mickell and husband, Ray of Round Rock, brothers, Gabe Didier Puma and husband, Chris of Dallas and Jeremiah Ybarra of Anthony, Texas, grandsons; Antonio Zakery and Tomas Andres Subia.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Ybarra, David Garcia, Leonard Holguin, Jaime Ybarra, Javier Ybarra and Juan Ybarra.  

The family of George Ybarra wish to extend their sincere gratitude to Desert Milagro Dialysis Center in Odessa, Texas Home Health organizations in the area but most of all to his most recent provider Erica Maldonado through Caprock Home Health in Odessa.  His neighbors at his apartment complex and staff.  Thank you to Heritage Funeral Home of Big Bend and all staff who assisted with all arrangements and were so kind and professional also Fresinius Dialysis Center of Fort Stockton,Texas.
