Geronima Ortiz

Geronima R. Ortiz went into rest on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the age of 98. She was born September 30, 1921, in Marathon, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Florencio Rodriguez and Canuta Garcia, husband Crespin Ortiz, son Ruben Ortiz, and daughter Esperanza Ortiz.

She is survived by daughter Irma Fuentez and husband Henry Fuentez of Fort Stockton, Texas; sons Alonso Rodriguez and wife, Amada Rodriguez, of Fort Stockton, Texas, Richard Rodriguez and wife, Elidia Rodriguez, of Monte Vista, Colorado, Jose Ortiz and wife, Vickie Ortiz, of Fort Stockton, Texas, Raul Ortiz of Fort Stockton, Texas, and Luis Ortiz and wife Carmen of Fort Stockton, Texas;  brothers Castulo Rodriguez, Justino Rodriguez, Guillermo Rodriguez, and Santos Garcia; sisters Juana Rodriguez, Mauricia Fierro, Felicita Ogas, Dionicia Monclova, Basillia Mancha, Claudia Rodriguez, Lucia Salmon; forty nine grandchildren; ninety two great grandchildren; and forty four great great grandchildren.

She was born and raised in Marathon, Texas where she was a homemaker, worked at the Gage Hotel,  and also the Deann. She later moved to Fort Stockton where she continued raising her grandchildren and supporting her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, from 1-7PM with a Rosary to follow at Heritage Funeral Home, 301 N. Main, Fort Stockton, Texas. Services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 10AM, at Our Lady of the Guadalupe, North Campus, Fort Stockton, Texas, formerly known as St. Agnes Catholic Church.
