Gil Martinez

Gil F. Martinez passed away on October 29, 2020, at the age of 77.

He was born August 10, 1943, in Sanderson, Texas and resided in Fort Stockton, Texas.

Gil Martinez was born and raised in Sanderson, Texas. Soon after High School, he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad which later was known as Union Pacific Railroad when he retired.

His passion was golf and made the news in the Sanderson Times Newspaper for making a hole in one. He was loved by many in our community. He also served with the Knights of Columbus for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Elidia Gonzales; step-sons Frank Ramirez and wife Ceci, and Fred Ramirez and wife, Lupe; daughters Rosemary Romo and husband, Tom, Maricela Luevano, and husband, Frank, and Ana Martinez; step-daughters Elisa Ramirez and Emma Ramirez; brothers Julian, Urbano, Domingo, Joe, David, and Joe Angel; sisters Belia and Rosita Martinez, twenty three grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Julian Martinez and Juanita Flores, and brother Ramon Martinez.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 2-4PM with Rosary at 3PM, at Heritage Funeral Home, 301 N. Main, Fort Stockton. Services for Gil Martinez will be Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 10AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Downtown Campus, Fort Stockton, Texas. Due to the Coronavirus, occupancy will be limited at all locations.
