Harper G. Caldwell passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 in Fort Stockton, surrounded by his family, at the age of 88 years. Harper was born on October 8, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Franklin and Harriet Belle Caldwell.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for sixty-two years; a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, FFA, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Evening Lions Club; he was active in the stock shows and introducing his children to the livestock; he was an entomologist for Texas A&M; he was the owner and operator of Caldwell Exon station and the owner and operator of Caldwell Wrecker Services Inc.; he was a member of the USO in World War Two; he was president of the Lions Club 1978-79; Lion of the year 1979-80; Citizen of the year 1981-82; Honorary Commissioner of the Law 1992; Lions Club 2nd Generation Key Holder 1995.
Harper is survived by his wife Mary Lee Caldwell; son David and Judy Caldwell of Artesia, New Mexico; daughter Cathy and John O'Connell of Fort Stockton, Texas; four grandchildren Ryan, Jerrico, Joseph, Arielle; and one great grandchild, Malachi.
Harper was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Harriet Belle Caldwell; and his brothers and sisters.
Memorial Service will begin at 10am on Monday the 11th of May at First United Methodist Church with Pastors Neely Landrum and John O'Connell officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch in Harper G's name.
