Helen Doris Smetak of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away Saturday May 5th, 2018, in Midland, Texas at the age of 84 years. She was born on December 31, 1933, in Cotulla, Texas to Phillip and Maude Saul.
Helen was a lifetime resident of Fort Stockton. She sang in the choir and was a member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church. She was a bookkeeper and cashier at Winkler's Department Store for over thirty years, and also worked at Casa de Modas later in her life. She knew everybody in Fort Stockton from her work. Helen loved her family, reading, Elvis and George Strait, and her cats. She was kind and gentle, and was always thinking of others.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Linda Smetak-Miller and husband Mark of Midland, Terri Claycomb and husband Eddy of Dallas; her sister, Donna Jean Saul; her grandchildren, Catelyn Silapachai, Clif Claycomb, and Caleb Claycomb.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, A. J. Smetak; her parents; her brothers, Gerald Saul, Lightsey Saul, and Jimmy Saul.
Graveside service will be on Wednesday, May 9th, 2018, beginning at 3:00 pm at East Hill Cemetery. A reception to follow at the Grey Mule Saloon.
