Herman Stuart Diebitsch, age 79, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013. Mr. Diebitsch was born in San Angelo, Texas on November 17, 1933. His parents were Herman Henry Diebitsch and Agnes Ella Stewart Diebitsch. He grew up in San Angelo, then moved to Fort Stockton in 1948 before joining the Navy. He married and raised his family in Old Lyme, Connecticut, then moved back to Fort Stockton with his second wife and family in 1977. He was active in the VA and the local VFW chapter, and was recognized recently as Veteran of the Month. He was also active in the Fort Stockton Masonic Lodge. He was gifted with his hands, a jackofalltrades who could fix almost anything and especially loved working on cars. His family also remembers fondly his readiness to give help and assistance to people in need.
Mr. Diebitsch is survived by his daughter Dianne Wilkinson of Hartland, VT son Michael Mick Diebitsch and wife Emily of Grand Prairie, Texas his stepchildren Jane, John, Mary, Mark, Joel and Peter Uscilka his sistersinlaw Evelyn Ann Diebitsch of San Angelo and Sue Diebitsch of Fort Stockton. Other survivors are two grandchildren, Eric Wilkinson wife Karen and their 3 children, Abby, Reeve and Owen of Claremont, NH and Alison Robinson husband Tom and their daughter Hannah of Reading, VT cousin Bonnie Thompson and husband Jerry of San Antonio nieces and nephews Gregg Diebitsch and wife Lisa of San Angelo Dee Ann Ray of Kerrville Lori Diebitsch of Fort Stockton Stacie Diebitsch of Liberty Hill Ellis Johnston of Austin. He is also survived by many special friends and his beloved dogs.
Mr. Diebitsch was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Norma Uscilka Diebitsch his sister Joan Marie Johnston and by his brothers Robert E. Diebitsch and Donald J. Diebitsch.A memorial service was held 2pm November 4, 2013 at the small community hall.
