Jerry R. Contreras, a dedicated Ironworker and cherished family man, passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 81. Born in Fort Stockton, Texas, on October 17, 1943, Jerry lived his life his way, taking risks and adventure with a spirited heart.
Viewing for Jerry Contreras will be held November 7,2024 at Heritage Funeral home of the Big Bend 301 N. Main Street Fort Stockton, Texas from 12-7pm with Rosary to follow at 7pm. Funeral service will be held November 8, 2024, at St. Agnes Church 4094 N. Hwy 18 Fort Stockton, Texas at 2pm with Burial to follow after service at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
Jerry proudly served his country in the Navy 1961 to 1964 during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as an ironworker, working for the Kansas City Local #10 Union for 35 years before retiring. His commitment to his craft earned him respect among his colleagues and the community alike. Outside of work, Jerry had a profound passion for motorcycles and traveling, exploring new roads and experiences. His adventurous spirit endeared him to many, and he carried joy wherever he rode. He is survived by his beloved family, including his children Sally Renee Contreras, Sarah Maria (Contreras) Throckmorton, Melissa Rose Contreras, and Cipriano Contreras II. Additionally, Jerry was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Chad Contreras; Joshua, Michael, and Caleb Taylor; Kai Contreras; Alena and Madelyn Throckmorton; and Levi Burman; as well as Addison and Leed Contreras. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his warmth and guidance.

Jerry R. Contreras will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and a fearless approach to life. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live boldly and cherish every moment.
