Joe C. Garcia, of San Antonio, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at the age of 90. He was born on August 2, 1928, in Del Rio, to Adolfo and Natividad "Nati" Garcia.
Joe was raised in Sanderson and married Blanche Salinas on February 23, 1948. They moved to Fort Stockton in 1952. Joe was a devout Catholic and had a very strong faith. While living in Fort Stockton, he was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Joe and Blanche were service station owners before their retirement. He was a kind, funny, and generous man, always lending a hand and looking out for others. He would find ways to be of service as he was able. He always had a smile on his face, never met a stranger, and would often whistle while working. Joe and Blanche moved to San Antonio in 2011.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Rosalinda Rubio and her husband Raul; his son, Joe A. Garcia, Jr. and his wife, Nina; his 5 grandchildren: Nunie Rubio, Robert Jason Rubio, Anthony Rubio, Naomi Garcia Alvarez, and Nick Garcia; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Rodolfo "Conda" Garcia; sister, Gloria "Mayu" Saenz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Blanche S. Garcia; his parents, Adolfo and Natividad Garcia; his brother Isau "Curie" Garcia; and his sister, Yolanda Luevano.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 2pm-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, March 25, 2019, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Downtown Campus at 10 am in Fort Stockton. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
