Jon Rodriguez

Jon Richard Rodriguez of Fort Stockton, TX passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019, at the age of 51 years. He was born on October 28, 1967 in Del Rio, Texas, to Richard Rodriguez and Olga Lugo. Jon was the first grandchild and first grandson born into the Lugo side, of grandparents; Alfredo Lugo Jr and Natividad Lugo of Comstock, Texas.

Jon is survived by his father, Richard Rodriguez; sons, Jonathon Ray and Jayden Blake; sisters, Sabrina Lugo Rodriguez, and Natalie Lugo. nieces; Samantha Ann Rodriguez and family, Emily Giselle Bermea, nephew; Tommy Villarreal, grandmother; Geronima Rodriguez Ortiz, Uncles; Amador “Moi” Lugo and wife Lora Lugo, Alonzo Rodiguez and wife Amada, Joe Ortiz and wife Vickie, Ruben Ortiz, Raul Ortiz, Luis Rey Ortiz and wife Carmen, aunts; Esperanza Lugo, Angie Lugo, Edna Lugo, and Irma O. Fuentez and husband Henry, cousins; Suzuki “Zuki’ Lugo, Gabriel “Gibby” Lugo, Rudy Rasco, Sean Rasco, Daniel Martinez, Christina Faulkner. Delia Carreon, Edna Rodriguez, Oscar Rodriguez, Jerry Rodriguez, Crystal Rodriguez, Ana Ortiz, Cris Ortiz, Marcy Ortiz, Eric Ortiz, Jessi Ortiz, Rebecca Ortiz, Bobby Ortiz, Mikal Ortiz, Ruben Ortiz Jr, Veronica Lozano, Crispin Ortiz, Esperanza Ortiz, Abel Ortiz, Augustine Ortiz, Elizabeth Ortiz, Timothy Ortiz, Ruby Ortiz, Amber Ortiz, Justin Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz, Elijah Ortiz, Cassandra Ortiz, Monique Ortiz, Blanca Ortiz, Natasha Ortiz, Valerie Bueno, Vanessa Vargas, Joe Vargas Jr., Roccio Lejeune.

There are various family members, extended family members, and close friends of the family from both sides that would like to have been mentioned and or added. Although, the rest will not go unrecognized despite the differences, distance, background, ethnicity of our family. The family of Jon R. Rodriguez acknowledges, appreciates the love, utmost respect, compassion, support, gratitude, heartfelt condolences, and for the care in making his last days comfortable and being surrounded by moments of happiness and peace. He wanted and asked that when he departed from us that he be joined with a warm smile, and that every moment and memory of him be treasured forever. May your legacy live on through your spirit in every way possible. Till we meet again, Hasta lluego Love you brother!

He is preceded in death by his mother; Maria Olga Lugo, brother; Raymond Rodriguez, and nephew; Matthew Rodriguez.

Jon was part of a Barrio Organization named El Comite Cultural del Pueblo (Currently known as Casa de la Cultura in Del Rio, Texas), where he was an active member and took leading acting roles in Chicano skits / theatric plays in various cities / towns that the organization traveled to. He also contributed with his art skills (such as paintings, murals and tattoo art) because of his driven passion and love for the arts, and personal connection with the youth of the community. Jon deeply cared about struggling families and under privileged children who didn't have a support system, or simply needed someone to lend an ear and be heard. He looked up to his family elders and friends that offered wisdom and shared common interests. Jon enjoyed the ranch lifestyle of breeding and raising roosters. Having lived in Ft. Stockton over the course of his adult life, he acquired and developed an interest of being surrounded by nature where he picked up the likes, which then became his last known passion, for exotic plants / cactus’s and the small town country atmosphere where horses could roam freely on an open dirt road on any given day. Despite his medical dilemma, He continued his free-spirited lifestyle and never allowed that to hold him back or put a crutch / dent in his decision to do what he set his mind to do. He deeply loved his sisters, nieces, nephews, and close family he helped raise. With that being said, he appreciated his privacy and kept his circle of friends small. Jon lived with no regrets on the course of where his life took him. Long before his ending days, Jon lived with a peace of mind and spirit because he had already made his peace with God.

Visitation will be on August 2, 2019 from 2pm-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas, with rosary at 7pm. Funeral Services will be on August 3, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Downtown Campus (formally St. Joseph’s) in Fort Stockton, Texas.
