Jose Sinez “Chevy” Franco age 86, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Joe was a life-long resident of Fort Stockton. He was born on May 20th, 1935, to Froilo and Elvira Franco.
Joe was known to all as “Chevy” or “Papa Joe”. He was born and raised in Fort Stockton, Texas by his large family of parents, bothers, and sisters.
At an early age, he left Fort Stockton and began his work career, as a truck driver working for J.H. Rose Trucking Company in East Texas, delivering lumber. In the mid 1960’s, he returned to Fort Stockton and worked for Firestone company as a driver testing tires. While working for Firestone, he started to do little part-time jobs with a roller and a brush painting walls, ceilings, and trims. During the mid-70’s, Franco Construction was established completing small repairs to major remodeling projects around the Fort Stockton, Pecos, Alpine, Marathon, Marfa, Fort Davis, Odessa, Midland, and Austin, Texas areas during his 40 plus years. During his years in construction business, you would always find him at every job site overseeing the work of his employees. He built an outstanding reputation and regular clientele with his long-standing company as well as a lasting impression in the Fort Stockton and surrounding areas.
Joe married Josephina “Josie” in 1991. They lived together enjoying the outdoors, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife Josephina (Pina) Franco; parents, Froilo and Elvira Franco; one sister Margarita F. Hernandez, two brothers Guillermo “Willy” Franco and Froilo Jr. Franco. Joe is survived by his two sisters Maria (Manuel) Ibarra and Jesusita (Sam) Calderon; his children Joe Aldan (Alice) Franco, Robert “Bobby” (Josie) Franco, Sidney Franco, Edwina (Reney) Marrujo, Orlando (Lilia) Franco; step-children Hector (Ginger) Rodriguez and Susanna (Joe) Trujillo; beloved grandchildren Ginger Franco, Joe Aldan Franco II, James Austin Franco, Wanda King, Ray Sotelo, Joseph Franco, Katherine Franco, James Paul Franco, Duane Franco, Bryan Franco, Serena Franco, Sara Valenzuela, Robert Valdez, Ryan Franco, Rebecca Franco, Monica McMahon, Steven Trujillo, Kristy Trujillo, Paula Rodriguez, Mark Rodriguez, Jarod Rodriguez, Justin Rodriguez and JoLea Dennett; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Joe will be known as an individual full of love and he will be missed, loved, and remembered.

Visitation will take place at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend from 12:00 noon – 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 6th, 2022. Funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will begin at 10:00 am on Friday.
