Julio Vara Nunez entered eternal rest on October 20, 2020, in Odessa, Texas.
He followed the love of his life and loving wife of 55 years, Pascuala Dominguez Nunez, three weeks after her passing.
He is survived by his daughter Rachel DeLeon, and husband Paul, of Odessa, Texas; son Joel Nunez, and wife, Nereida, of San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren Fabian DeLeon and Clarissa DeLeon of Odessa, Texas, and Natalie Nunez Fate, and husband, Christian, of Virginia; brothers Frank Nunez, and wife Dora, of Anson, Texas, and Refugio (Cuco) Nunez, and wife, Linda, of Huntsville, Texas; and sister, Alicia Nunez, of Monahans, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Senon and Paubla Nunez, brother Jose Nunez, Sr., sisters Clarita Lopez, and Amelia Flores.
Pallbearers include Fabian DeLeon, Tomas Nunez, Jerry Nunez, Fabian Nunez, Frank Nunez, Jr., and Bobby Nunez. Honorary Pallbearers are Samuel Sarabia, Gabriel Sarabia, Oscar Dominguez, and Rodolfo Dominguez.
Julio’s life-long ministry was that of service. He was extremely proud of being a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Color Guard. He was an active member of the American Legion. Anyone driving by his house could clearly see his love for the U.S. Flag as it was flown daily in his backyard. He always opened the doors to his home and to his heart to the numerous nieces and nephews who needed a place to live.

Visitation will be from 1-4PM at Heritage Funeral Home on October 22, 2020, 301 N. Main, in Fort Stockton. Rosary will be held at 1PM, Mass at 2PM, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Downtown Campus, Fort Stockton, Texas, on Friday, October 23, 2020, with Military honors rendered at the Catholic Cemetery.
