Lorenzo A. “Lencho” Maldonado entered rest at his residence in Sanderson Texas, on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at the age of 96.
He was born to Jose and Gregoria Maldonado on October 10, 1923, in Sanderson, Texas. He served in the Army private First-Class Company A, 398th Engineer General Service Regiment. He was also a rifle marksman, receiving the following medals: European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal w/3 Bronze, Good Conduct Medal, GO6, and Hq Engineer GS regiment. He was honorably discharged on October 13, 1945.
Lorenzo “Lencho” was preceeded in death by his parents, Jose and Gregoria Maldonado; sisters Louisa Rodriguez, Delfina Vianes, and Mariana Esquivel; and brother Valentin.
He is survived by his spouse, Louisa, married 65 years; daughter Melinda; son Jaime and wife, Irma of Alpine, Texas; two grandsons Steven and A.J. Maldonado of Alpine; brothers Manuel, Agustin and Jose Maldonado from Sanderson, Texas.
Lorenzo “aka” Lencho was self employed as a carpenter for many years. There was never a job he could not accomplish. He was simply a jack of all trades.
Private services will be held this week at Saint James Catholic Church in Sanderson, Texas.
