Luke Schultz, born in Seguin, Texas, to Teddy Schultz and Ilene Ore, on May 8,1932, peacefully was called home May 11, 2020, in Fort Stockton Tx, at 88 years of age.
Luke moved to Fort Stockton in 1951 at the age of 19 where he began working as a roughneck in the oil industry. He then worked with his father-in-law doing home construction and remodeling. He met the love of his life, Frances. They were married on May 8, 1952, in Fort Stockton, Tx, where they built a home, business, and raised 3 boys. Luke was the talented owner of Schultz Plaster and Tile from 1960-2006 when he partially retired and took up with a couple of friends helping them out with their Washateria’s around town, as well as helping out when someone had a small plumbing and/or tile job until 2016 when he finally fully retired. Luke loved fishing, playing 42, spending time with his family, working in his yard, tinkering with something out in his shop (as long as his hands were busy he were happy). Watching the great grandkids play sports was another favorite pastime. For many years he made the trip to Midland every Saturday morning or Thursday afternoon to watch whichever sport was in season.
Luke was a quiet man, But his silence spoke volumes
The warmth of his gaze said “I Love You”
The strength of his hugs said “I’ll keep you safe”
The gentleness of his hands said “you’re precious to me”
His nod of approval or pat on the back for a job well done said “I respect and am proud of you!”
Luke touched so many lives through the years. His family was his world, also families who he did work for, the kids in little league ball that he coached, and the children on the school sports bus ,when the boys were older. There were those he considered his friends that he quietly went about his business helping, never meeting a stranger. I don’t care where he was, he always found someone to strike up a conversation with.
Luke was proceeded in death by both parents, Teddy Schultz and Ilene Ore; granddaughter Cheryl Disiere; two brothers; three sisters; and many brother and sister inlaws.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances; sons Mike and wife Julie, of North Richland Hills, Kenny Schultz of Fort Stockton, and Greg and wife Cheryl of Santa Fe, Tx; Grandchildren D’Aune & Roy Williams of Greenwood, Chadd Schultz of Washington OK, Brooksie & Ryan Cowgill of Colleyville TX, Todd Schultz, Cody & Stacy Wiseman of Santa Fe Tx; twelve great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; three brothers David and wife Rose Ann of Stephenville Tx, Gene Schultz of Texas, Henry Ore of Oregon, and Jimmy Schultz; sister and brother in-laws Donna and Sydney Verrette of Fort Stockton, Dorothy and Jack Wilkerson of Proctor TX, Shirley Smetak of Fort Stockton, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 1PM, Friday, May 15th, at East Hill Cemetery, Fort Stockton.
