Madge Weatherby of Fort Stockton and Coyanosa passed away Sunday June 25th, 2017, in Odessa at the age of 95 years. Madge was born on June 17th, 1922, Myron and Cora Moore of Guymon, Oklahoma.
She was an Outstanding Texas 4-H Leader, and an Outstanding Librarian-Texas Library Association. She received the honor of Citizen of the Year in Big Lake, Texas. She received a Business degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She retired twice, from the Regain County Library in Big Lake and the Farmers Home Administration in Fort Stockton. She came to Texas from the dust bowl of the Oklahoma Panhandle. She reared six children on the family farm at Coyanosa. She moved to Big Lake in 1976, and returned to Coyanosa in 2002. She played the organ and piano at several churches in the Trans-Pecos area. She was a member of the Pecos County Memorial hospital Auxiliary. She also taught piano lessons to various children in the Coyanosa area. Her fondest memories were at Coyanosa, Texas, with family including her 95th Birthday Celebration held on June 17th, 2017. She was a worthy matron of the Eastern star.
Madge is survived by her children, Gwen Hudspeth and husband Don of Castroville, TX, Norman Weatherby and wife Jan Rawls of Murfreesboro, TN, Paul Weatherby and wife Laurie of Fort Stockton, Rebecca Van Haselen and husband Brian of Las Vegas, NV, Gail Lampier of Fort Stockton, Robert Weatherby and wife Lyne Desmarais of Flowery Branch GA; her brother, RM Moore Jr. of Tulsa, OK; her 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Madge is preceded in death by her husband and parents; and sister, Alice Rosaline Myers.
Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 1st, 2017, at 10am at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. There will also be a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 1st, 2017, at 3pm at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, Texas.
