Margarita Celaya Sanchez of Fort Stockton, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015, in Fort Stockton at the age of 91 years. Margarita was born on June 10, 1924, to Federico Celaya and Maria Santiago in San Vicente, TX.
Margarita is survived by her two sons, Federico C. Sanchez and Manuel Sanchez Jr.; her four daughters, Alvina S. Lopez, Irene S. Ortega, Delfina S. Gonzales, and Delma S. Riojas; two brothers, Ildefonso S. Celaya and Gregorio Celaya; her two sisters, Ignacia C. Grano and Marcella C. Portillo; her grandchildren, Kriselda O. Barrientes, Michelle L. Gonzalez, Ector S. Lopez, Sonia S. Gonzalez, Cynthia A. Martinez, Veronica S. Lopez, Bridgett L. Riojas, Diana A. Crihfield, Toni O. Juarez, Ricky S. Lopez, Briana Gutierrez, Lisa L. Ramirez, Laci L. Sanchez, Manuel J. Sanchez, and Mariah Sanchez; and her thirty-two great-grandchildren.
Margarita was preceded in death by her father and mother, Federico and Maria Celaya; her husband, Manuel W. Sanchez; daughter, Maria C. Sanchez; three brothers, Pablo S. Celaya, Elario S. Celaya, and Pedro S. Celaya.
Visitation will be on both Sunday, December 20th, 2015 from 12-6pm and Monday, December 21st, 2015 from 12p.m to 7p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in downtown Fort Stockton. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday morning, December 22, 2015, starting at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
