Maria Etelvina Gonzalez of Fort Stockton, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, in Fort Stockton at the age of 86 years. Maria was born on February 15, 1929, to Bivian and Arcadia Ramirez in Shafter, Texas. She was a retired food service worker for Fort Stockton ISD. She was a member of Guadalupana, Hija de Maria, Apostolado and a Cursilista. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
Maria is survived by her two sons, Froilo R. Gonzalez Jr. and fiancé Susana of Fort Stockton, and Billy R. Gonzalez and wife JoAnn of Midland; five daughters, Dinah Rowley and husband Ronald of Fort Stockton, Patsy Mesa and husband Willie of Odessa, Lisa Chavarria and husband Ruben of Fort Stockton, Nattie Martinez and husband Martin of Odessa ,and Elma Maldonado and husband Robert of Monahans; her sister, Lucia R. Garcia of Fort Stockton; son in law, Frank Acosta; sixteen grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren, and eight great great-grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Froilo Bernard Gonzalez Sr.; her father and mother, Bivian and Arcadia Ramirez; her daughter, Bessie Acosta; her brother, Gregorio Montez; her two sisters, Candelaria Montes Carrillo, and Amanda R. Armendariz.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2015 from 11-7 at Heritage Funeral Home in downtown Fort Stockton. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday morning, December 23rd, 2015, starting at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton. The Pallbearers are Manny Glenn Rodriguez, Steven Shae Acosta, Robbie Maldonado, Austen Akin, Cody Joe Gonzalez, Christopher Lee Chavarria, Kacy Lee Chavarria, and B.J. Gonzalez. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
