Mary Marvin "Buster" Sedlacek, passed away on May 31st, 2015. She was born to Thomas and Annie Connor on the 31st of January in 1923 in the city of Haynesville, Louisiana. A caring mother, stalwart pillar of the family, a joyful grandmother, and a kind soul, Mary took to life with fervor and furor, and was never one to deny a bed to someone who needed it. Growing up in the oil fields of Wink, Texas gave her a unique outlook on life, her love of reading has gained her a library of knowledge, and her love of family has given her a wealth of joys and pictures to adorn her walls. She loved to tell stories about her life, giving her experience to her grandchildren, and even enjoying a healthy debate in which she encouraged her listeners to learn about both sides of an issue. She served as Chief Tax Appraiser for Pecos County for many years, enjoying the company of the many ranchers and oilmen that came into the office addressing them as "sweetie" and "honey".
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, William "Billy" Sedlacek; her parents Thomas and Annie Connor of Imperial, Texas; her brothers, Tom Connor of Alpine, Texas, Herman "Pat" Connor of Fort Stockton, Texas; her son John Sedlacek of Fort Stockton, Texas; and grandson Alfred William Gordon of Roscoe, Nebraska.
Mary is survived in death by her sons Thomas Sedlacek of Hot Springs, South Dakota, James Sedlacek (Bernice Lynn) of Concord, North Carolina; her daughters Carol Hansen (Lyle) of Omaha, Nebraska, Donna Gordon of Roscoe, Nebraska, Shelley Graue of Fort Stockton, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Graveside service will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.
