Gaynell Petty Ham passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. She was born in Lueders, TX on January 5, 1934, to Aleck and Blinn Petty, and was the youngest of ten children. In Lueders, she met the love of her life, Jerry. They married young, against many odds, on March 12, 1949, and kept an enduring love for one another for 71 years, Their marriage was a remarkable example and an exceptional gift to us all.
Gay enjoyed league bowling and playing women's softball in her younger years. Other hobbies included reading, sewing and quilting. She loved being with family and cherished time spent with her grandchildren, whether it was holidays, vacations or reunions. She delighted in their visits, teaching them to enjoy life, to appreciate humor and to love each other. She was an example of amazing love and acceptance. Her life was devoted to her husband, their family and the home they made together. Gay will be missed tremendously by those who loved her.
Gaynell Ham was preceded in death by parents Aleck and Blinn Petty, brothers Dick, Sam and Kenneth, sisters Ruth, Elsie, Marion, Margerite, Christine and Wandean, son Steve Ham, grandchildren Jason Ham, Kelton Mitchell, Scott Jamar and Shannon Ham.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jerry, of Fort Stockton, TX, son Dennis (Mary) of Pandale, TX, daughters Aggie Oldfield of Troup, TX, Kathy George (Cecil) of Fort Stockton, TX, grandchildren Dottie Gerber, Paul Allen, Sally Orozco, Miki Mitchell, Mathew Moon, Mark Moon, Randy Ham, Sarah Deen, Nache Ham, Shaylyn Burnham, Ryan Lauderdale, Shelby Flowers, Joseph Lauderdale, James George, Clayton Lauderdale, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, 32 great grandchildren, 8 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
