Paula O. Picaso, of Sanderson, Texas gained her angel wings peacefully at home on Monday, September 13, 2021, in Sanderson, Tx.
A memorial service will be held in Paula's honor 9:00 AM, Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson, Texas with an inurnment at Santa Rita Cemetery.
Paula was born in Study Butte, Texas on June 30, 1942, to Lasaro and Patrosinia Picaso. She attended school in Sanderson through Jr. High when she left to assist her older siblings and "Daddyito Lasaro" to care for her younger siblings after the unexpected passing of her mother, Patrosinia. Paula worked in the food service industry most of her life. She poured her heart into cooking. Feeding her family and others was a true passion, expressing love through her delicious meals. Paula loved to travel. If she heard keys rattling, she was already in the front seat before asking, "Where are we going?" She saw the world one softball field at a time. She enjoyed road trips near and far with her nieces and sisters. Paula loved listening to music each morning as she began her daily routine of cleaning house, keeping up with the laundry, and you guessed it, cooking. Paula was spunky, fun, and sometimes feisty but loved from the innermost part of her heart. She was a breast cancer survivor of over 26 years. Paula was a strong, independent woman. She fought her battles hard, a true epitome of strength.
Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Lasaro and Patrosinia Picaso; her son, John Michael Picaso; brothers, Vicente Picaso and Serapio Picaso; and nephews, Ruben Picaso and David Picaso.
Paula is survived by sisters, Victoria Arredondo, Catarina Garza (Salvador Jr.), Juanita Hamilton, Aurelia Galvan (Larry), Patrosinia Fisher (Robert); brothers, Domingo Picaso (Melva), Fred Picaso (Lali), and Larry Picaso Hernandez; she also leaves behind her nieces and nephews, many which she loved as her own, and several dear friends.
Honorary Pallbearers are as follows: Lawrence Andrew Galvan, Pierce Weldon Fehner, Jody Darnell, Mike Sanchez, Rene Rubio, Victor Cobos, Benjamin Hernandez, Jesus "Chuy" Cardona, and Santiago "Chago" Flores, Jr.
