Pedro (Pete) Agapito Martinez Jr., 52, of Odessa, Texas passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, in Odessa. He was born in Fort Stockton, Texas to Pedro and Elizabeth Martinez on February 28, 1971. Pete attended Fort Stockton High School and dedicated 23 years of his life to Uni1st, a testament to his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic. Starting from as a driver, Pete's journey led him to achieve the distinguished position of manager, a role that showcased his remarkable knowledge and leadership skills. Retiring from Uni1st with a legacy of hard work, dedication, and the mark of a true leader. His contributions will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Pete was a devoted son, brother, father, and friend. Pete will be deeply missed for his vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends. As we come together to mourn his sudden departure, we also celebrate the rich tapestry of life that he wove and the cherished memories he has left behind.

Pedro (Pete) Agapito Martinez Jr., a man who truly loved life, found joy in the simple pleasures, and held a special place in his heart for his Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. His enthusiasm for these sports teams was a testament to his passion and dedication in everything he did. As he cheered for his favorite teams, he inspired those around him with his unwavering spirit and infectious energy. Pete's love for life and sports will forever be remembered by his family and friends, serving as a reminder of the happiness he brought to each moment he embraced.

Pete is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Lee Martinez, his grandfather Pedro Martinez, grandmothers Aurora Sarabia and Librada Piña, and great-grandmother Sofia Acosta.

He is survived by his son, Nicholas Martinez, and grandson, Zayden Martinez. Pete is also survived by his parents, Pedro and Elizabeth Martinez, his brother Beau Martinez and wife Erika Martinez, and his sister-in-law Crystal Martinez, and nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00PM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 3001 N. Main St. Fort Stockton, Texas 79735. Funeral Services will take place at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Agnes Catholic Church 4094 N. Hwy 18 Fort Stockton, Texas. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service include Keith Lopez, Juan Urias, Manuel Lopez, Cesar Fuentez, Joaquin Banda, Ruben Rosas, Eligio Ochoa, and Angel Olvera. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Valeriano, Armando Trevino, Shane Velasquez, Daniel Aguilar, Victor Martinez, Joe Ray Ramirez, and Orlando Baiza.

Arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of Big Bend, and we kindly ask for privacy as the family copes with this loss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Pete Martinez Jr.'s memory.
