Rito Gomez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 27 2025, at the age of 74. He was born on April 4, 1950, in Santa Monica, Coahuila to Rito Gomez Sr. and Eloisa Montejano de Gomez. His devotion to family and faith left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

From a young age, Rito was known for his infectious passion for life. He approached every moment with a warmth and kindness that drew people near. Family was paramount to Rito; he cherished every opportunity to be with his beloved grandkids, nieces, and nephews, treating them as extensions of his own heart. His unique ability to connect with others was matched only by his vibrant sense of humor, often sharing jokes that brought laughter to their gatherings and will remain fond memories.

A man of faith, Rito exemplified the teachings of God through his compassionate nature and willingness to help those in need. His passion for riding horses was a testament to his adventurous spirit, a pursuit that showcased his natural talent and bond with these majestic creatures. Friends fondly referred to him as “Brodita,” a name that seemed to encapsulate his undeniable love of God that is forever etched in their memories.

Rito's love for life and family will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on. He is survived by his devoted wife Lesvia Gomez, and by his children: Elizabeth Gomez, Rito Gomez Jr.,Cinthia Gomez, and Agustin Gomez. He also leaves behind his sisters Maria de Jesus Duran, Guadalupe Hernandez, Rosa Gomez, Gloria Barrera, and brother Carlos Gomez, who will carry forward his spirit of compassion and joy.

He was preceded in death by his father Rito Gomez Sr., mother Eloisa Montejano de Gomez, daughter Maria Eloisa Gomez, sister Teresa Rios, and brother Jose Angel Gomez. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Austin Garcia, Ziane Jade Gomez, Zane Elian De La Rosa, Jayla Gomez, Rito Gomez V, ZeVian Gomez, and Orlando Gomez, along with his great-grandchildren: Kenyah Evallainah Garcia, Phoenix Rowan Garcia, Portland Maysen Garcia, River June Garcia, Genesis Navarrete, and Navy Rhodes Garcia, who brought him immense joy.

Services in honor of Rito Gomez will be held at Heritage Funeral Home of The Big Bend in Fort Stockton, Texas. The viewing will take place on April 4 and April 5, culminating in a funeral service on April 5 at 12 pm followed by a graveside service at East Hill Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

Pallbearers who will honor Rito include Rito Gomez Jr. ,Agustin Gomez, Urbano Rivera, Michael Bretz, Zane Elian De La Rosa, Rito Gomez V,, ZeVian Gomez, and Orlando Gomez.

Rito Gomez will forever be remembered for his unyielding love, infectious spirit, and the profound impact he made on the hearts of many. As we celebrate his life, let us hold into the hope that he rides into the sunset, embraced in the love of God and family.
