Rufina Acosta Bernal of Fort Stockton passed away Wednesday, January 18th, 2017, in Odessa at the age of 88 years. Rufina was born on February 29, 1928, to Jose Acosta and Clara De la O in Rancho Icoteas Coahuila, Mexico.
She married Jose R. Bernal February 8th, 1948 in Alpine, TX. She moved from Marathon, TX to Imperial, TX. Later moved to Coyanosa, TX where they lived for 18 years before moving to Fort Stockton, Texas. She was famous for her homemade Asaderos and great cooking. She loved to sew, crotchet, do embroidery, and going to garage sales.

Rufina is survived by her siblings; Elario (Pancho) Acosta, Dominga Acosta Galindo,
Gregoria Acosta Heredia; her sons and daughters, Sally (Celia) Ambris and her husband Greg Ambris, Ofelia(Feffy) Sanchez and her husband Freddie Sanchez, Ninfa Rice and her husband Kelley Rice, Ruben Bernal and wife Delma Bernal, Salvador(Chava) Bernal and wife Leticia Bernal, Joe Bernal and wife Veronica Bernal, and Maria Elena (Maney) Bernal.
Rufina is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose Bernal, her daughter Agrora Bernal as well as brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017, from 11-6pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Visitation will start at 7pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. Funeral service will begin at 10am on January 23rd, 2017, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas.
