Sarah Nuñez Ureta, 89, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Sarah entered into eternal rest while lovingly being cared for at Regent Care Oakwell Farms Care Center.
Sarah was born on April 29, 1931 in Fort Stockton, Texas to Chon and Sarah Nuñez. As a young lady, she worked beside her mother at Sarah's Cafe until her mother's retirement. She went on to work for Dr. Omer D. Price for many rewarding years.
In 1953, Sarah was united in marriage to Cosme Ureta Jr. They were blessed with four children: Roy, Rebecca, Alma and Delma. Over the years, Sarah was a very active member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church where her husband also served as a Deacon. She joyfully served her faith community as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and president of The Guadalupanas. As a CCD teacher, Sarah prepared many children for their First Communion.
While her children were in school, Sarah, a devoted mother, was involved in PTA, Band Booster Club, Choir Booster Club and Sports Booster Club. She contributed to her community as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, as well as a volunteer at the Fort Stockton Nursing Home and as a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 60 years and her beloved son. She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca and her husband Jeff from Plano, Texas, Alma from San Antonio, TX and Delma and her husband Chris from Sachse, Texas. Sarah is also survived by her grandchildren: Joshua Ureta, Lori Wright, Brittany Pearson, Sarah Defoor, Grace Defoor and Miriam Redfearn.
Sarah will always be remembered by her loved ones for having a big heart and an infectious laugh.
She was a woman of faith who always served her community with a smile.
Private services will be held by the family at Our Lady of Guadalupe Downtown Campus, Fort Stockton, Texas. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
