Socorro De Anda of Fort Stockton, TX passed away on Friday, October 7th 2016 at the age of eighty one. Socorro was born on September 25, 1935 in Mexico to Juan Cervantes and Cruz Alvarado. She spent her childhood being raised with numerous family members on a ranch in Chihuahua, Mexico. She would later move to Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico and ultimately resided in Fort Stockton with her husband where they would raise their seven children.
Socorro is survived by her sons, Enrique De Anda Jr. and wife Alice of Fort Stockton, Jose De Anda and wife Rose of San Antonio. Her daughters, Raquel De Anda of Fort Stockton, Elda Tarango and husband Marcario of Odessa, Veronica De Anda and husband Pete Olivares of Sanderson, and Teresa Irigoyen and husband Chris of San Antonio. Her sister Santa Gonzales of Midland, her sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Socorro is preceded in death by her husband, Enrique De Anda Sr., her daughter Rosa De Anda, her sister Merced Hinojos, and her parents Juan Cervantes and Cruz Alvarado.
She played an important part in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church. She loved and took pride in her beautiful garden and enjoyed spending time with family. She always enjoyed sitting down, drinking coffee, and visiting with her many friends. Socorro had a gentle smile. She gave her family courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10th, 2016, from 11am-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Rosary will be at 7pm on October10th 2016. Funeral service will be at 10am on Tuesday, October 11th, 2016, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Stockton.
