Theresa J. Keener, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, in Grand Prairie, Texas. Born on October 2, 1931, in St. Hedwig, Texas, she lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to her family.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during the visitation at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend 301 N. Man Street in Fort Stockton, Texas, on April 5, 2025, from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. Following the visitation, a graveside service will occur at East Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM, concluding at 12:00 PM that same day.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Keener was cherished not only as a devoted homemaker but also for her exceptional talents in the kitchen. She was an excellent cook, known for creating family meals that brought everyone together. Her passion for sewing led her to craft clothing for her children and friends, showcasing her creativity and care for those around her. Mrs. Keener is survived by her loving daughters, Terry Capers of Fort Stockton, Texas, and Shirley Plumley of Grand Prairie, Texas, as well as her son Darrell Keener of Corpus Christi, Texas. In addition to her children, she leaves behind a legacy of love through her five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Keener, who had been her partner for 54 years in Fort Stockton, Texas. Together, they shared a beautiful life enriched by their strong bond and unwavering support for one another. Mrs. Keener's warmth, culinary skills, and sewing talent created lasting memories for her loved ones, and she will be dearly missed. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
