Thomas Jefferson Green Jr. passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at the age of 77. Tommy was born on October 3, 1936 in Penelope, Texas to Thomas Jefferson Green Sr. and Albina Green. He graduated from Del Rio High School in 1954, where he was active in football and track. He then attended Texas A I University. He and his wife Leta came to Fort Stockton from Del Rio 57 years ago. Tommy worked for Firestone Tire Rubber Co. for 29 years, then, for Texas Dept. of Corrections for 6 years. Tommy was an avid golfer, and a member of the Fort Stockton Golf Association and Million Mile Driving Club. He was Baptist. He is fondly remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Leta his son, Thomas J. Green III and wife Ping of South Texas daughter Loy Duncan of Corpus Christi, Texas brothers James Green wife Marilyn of Del Rio Johnny Green and wife Merle of Pollack, LA sisters Mildred Bradley of Del Rio, Bettye Wilson of Rialto, CA and granddaughter Cara Green of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Sr. and Albina brothers Bill and Olin Green sister Rene Lewis and grandson T.J. Green IV.
Graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 27 in the Masonic cemetery on W. 2nd St. in Del Rio Texas. Heritage Funeral Home of Fort Stockton Texas has been entrusted with arrangements. Remembrances and condolences may be shared at heritagefuneralhomeofthebigbend.com
